Under his guidance, the Association has secured and strengthened its relationship with major wholesale buyers and transitioned to primarily raising hogs fed only non-GMO feeds.
After graduating from NC State University, he started raising hogs on the ground on family land, producing his own grain crops for feed, and testing and refining nutrition and breeding programs to optimize pork quality. Jeremiah is a master of re-purposing farm equipment, adapting stainless steel feeding bins and used gestation crates to help create outdoor pens and farrowing houses. He also taps this skill and his machinist expertise to manage the operation of a non-GMO on-farm soybean meal production facility.
While most of Jeremiah’s pork is sold through the Association, he markets some directly to neighbors and nearby businesses under the brand name GrassRoots Pork Company. Jeremiah lives with his three daughters and his wife, Jessica, who in addition to her full-time job manages various administrative duties of the Association. The Jones’ commitment to the pasture-raised pork industry in North Carolina is steadfast and exceptional.
