As a food hub, our mission at Firsthand Foods has always been to help connect North Carolina’s pasture-based livestock producers with regional market opportunities. We remain committed to this endeavor and feel the importance of this work now more than ever. Restaurants in our community are effectively shut down, forcing lays off and dramatically increasing the number of people who have no secure income or ability to feed their families. That’s why we are establishing the Firsthand Foods Community Fund, a donation program that provides pasture-raised local meat to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. For every dollar you donate, we will deliver an equivalent amount of meat to the Food Bank, which serves food pantries, soup kitchens and after school programs throughout our region.
Please consider making a cash donation to Firsthand Foods Community Fund. No amount is too small. Just $5 provides enough ground beef for a family of four for one meal. A $25 donation will provide 18 children with a nutrient-dense source of protein. And a $50 donation provides enough pork to create pulled pork and heart-warming soup stock for 25 people. Your donation not only helps feed those in need but it supports the small-scale farmers in our network and helps keep Firsthand Foods open and serving our community during this crucial time.
Our goal is to raise $8,000 in the next 60 days!
Donations can be made via Paypal and Venmo. Or send a check (made out to Firsthand Foods) to PO Box 586, Durham, NC 27702 (This is not a tax deductible donation.)
