Farmer Spotlight: Bobby Irwin

by firsthandfoods on January 17, 2014

Bobby Irwin manages the beef operation at Brush Creek Farm in Ennice, NC.  He enjoys playing golf on nice afternoons, and loves a great steak!

What are your favorite hobbies?

I love to play golf.

Where would you go for your dream vacation?

It gets so cold up here in Alleghany County this time of year that I would have to say I’d pick Aruba and Australia!

What is your favorite beef dish?

Do you help to get the next generation involved and excited about sustainable agriculture?  If so, how? If you have kids, do they still help out on the farm? If not, what are they doing?

I’m proud of all my wife has done to support public schools and she recently published two children’s books — Stratford Oaks Tales — telling stories about animals on the farm.

Anything else you would like us to share about you? Any quirky facts?

We take environmental stewardship seriously and last year Brush Creek Farm was a finalist for our regional Soil and Water Conservation Award.
